From Mississippi to Thames

A musical journey for a renewed appreciation of a musical genre whose influence on modern music gave inspiration for the birth and growth of almost any kind of popular music style: the Blues! Side by side with a key point in this evolution: the London music scene between 60’s and 70’s.

Steve Angarthal, hard rock  guitar player and singer,  introduces the show “From Mississippi to Thames” as a reinterpretation of the blues repertoire starting from traditional songs up to rock blues hits of English artists from the 70’s.

Among the various offered artists you find the likes of Muddy Waters, Billy boy Arnold, Hendrix, John Mayall, Clapton, Jethro Tull, Jesse Colin Young, Steve Ray Vaughan, Free and Deep Purple.

This project started in its embryonal  state with singer Masha Mysmane, bass player William Nicastro, jazz drummer  Paolo Pellegatti and Steve Angarthal on guitar playing a few gigs around Mylan.

Steve then sees a way to explore this blues experience with the idea of a revisiting the genre by means of two strong icons: the rivers Mississippi and Thames being the cradle of Delta Blues and British Rock Blues.

The show set list carries the listener through a journey connecting these two different yet akin contexts with a funny and curious blend of tunes; some well some less known but charming and interesting as well.

The shows sticks to one of the most entertaining yet challenging line up: the trio. Reminiscing of  legendary examples like Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

The musicians who have joined Steve in this project are William Nicastro, Daniele Petrosillo and Dario Bucca on bass and  William Americo Costantino, Sergio Ratti and Jody Brioschi on drums: all of them are pro musicians with long experience both in studio and live in Italy and abroad.

Moreover, between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, Steve releases two original singles Hard Times Shuffle and Bye Bye Blues (available in all digital stores) written by himself, supporting and proving his stylistic affinity with the world of Blues music.

As Blues best tradition is playing with a strong sense of feeling and interplay between the members of the band so the show “From Mississippi to Thames” lives and thrives on this thanks to the musicians skills who will bring the audience through throbbing rhythms and magical enchanting music!
