Biography

Guitar player, singer, composer, audio engineer and producer.  His solo project “Angarthal” released the album “Uranus and Gaia” in 2016 and the singles “Hard Times Shuffle” (2019),“Bye bye Blues” (2020), The Swann (2020) and The Phoenix Journey (2022).

This project is the development of the preceding “Dragon’s Cave” with whom the cd “Elektro Motion”  was released in 2010.

In 2003 he founded, with singer  Pino Scotto, the  metal band Fire Trails: this band released “Vanadium tribute” (2003) and “Third Moon”(2005) and they were among the main bands of Italian metal scene of that period. They played throughout Italy and were part of the bill of events like “Gods of metal”, “Heineken Jammin festival”, “Agglutination”: they also shared the stage with the likes of Deep Purple, R. J. Dio, Iron Maiden, Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner.

The span of his musical education is very wide: He studied composition, functional harmony and arrangement for big band with M° Filippo Daccò, classical guitar with  M° Marco Biassoni, jazz rock guitar with Shaun Baxter and classical arrangement and composing by himself and which,  after meeting violinist  M° Mauro Catalano, lead to birth of Cordis ensemble, a chamber string orchestra with solo electric guitar played by Angarthal.

In 2014 Steve is awarded the FLCM in electric guitar performance by the London College of Music.
He teaches privately and different schools:

• Accademia di Musica Sondriese from 2000 to 2006 (electric and classical guitar)
• BDM (Il Borgo della Musica) from 2007 up to now (electric and classical guitar)
• “Rock tv school” and “Nel centro della musica” from 2008 to 2012 (guitar, live music and music theory )

He’s been part of different artists projects such as Rezophonic, Myland, Pino Scotto, MC project.

Steve Angarthal endorses Molinelli Guitars since 2000

Has partnered Reference Cables from 2011 to 2022 supporting and demoing its catalog and distributed brands such as Bricasti, Audix, Source Audio and Morpheus  in different exhibitions like Second hand guitars, Frankfurt Musik Messe, Dubai Middle East Palme, Sarzana Acoustic guitar meeting  and NAMM in Los Angeles.

In  2015 he joined Italian brands Mezzabarba Custom Amplification, Masotti Guitar Devices and  Tcase.

From 2016 he is back with Pino Scotto with the recording of cd  “Live for a dream” and its live tour.
In  2018 Nadir Music releases “Eye for an eye” cd; Steve is the core of this production being  guitarist, backing singer, keyboardist, song writer and arranger and taking care of all the recording process.  He then follows the live tour up to the fall of 2018.
In 2020 he is featured in Pino Scotto “Dog eat dog” new release as songwriter and guitar player for the track “Dust to dust” and backing singer in all the tracks.

He is the creator of the projects “Purple Sky” and “From Mississippi to Thames”:  the former show  “The 70’s Legacy show” retraces the discography of the 70’s of hard rock icon  Deep Purple, while the latter offers a reinterpretation  of blues repertoire  ranging from early traditional blues up to the early 70’s English scene.

Il progetto è un’evoluzione del precedente “Dragon’s Cave” con il quale pubblicò il disco “Elektro Motion nel 2010.

Fondatore nel 2003, insieme a Pino Scotto, della metal band Fire Trails: il gruppo ha pubblicato “Vanadium tribute” (2003) e “Third Moon”(2005) ed è stato uno dei gruppi di rilievo della scena metal italiana del periodo, suonando nei più importanti eventi musicali quali “Gods of metal”, “Heineken Jammin festival”, “Agglutination” oltre ad aprire concerti di band del calibro di Deep Purple, R.J.Dio, Iron Maiden, Glenn Hughes, Joe Lynn Turner.

Studia composizione ed armonia funzionale per big band e orchestra con il M° Filippo Daccò; chitarra classica con il M° Marco Biassoni; jazz rock guitar con Shaun Baxter; composizione e arrangiamento per orchestra classica, che, con la collaborazione del M° violinista Mauro Catalano, sfocerà nella formazione del Cordis ensemble, un’orchestra d’archi con chitarra elettrica solista di Angarthal.
Nel 2014 consegue il titolo di laurea FLCM in electric guitar performance del London College of Music.
Attivo anche in ambito didattico come insegnante presso:

Nel 2018 Nadir Music pubblica il disco “Eye for an eye” di Pino Scotto per il quale Steve è presente come chitarrista, corista, tastierista, compositore e arrangiatore nonché tecnico del suono e segue il relativo live tour fino all’autunno del 2018.
Nel 2020 è presente nel disco “Dog eat dog” di Pino Scotto sia come compositore e chitarista del brano “Dust to dust” e come corista in tutti i brani del disco.

E’ ideatore dei progetti Purple Sky e “From Mississippi to Thames”: il primo presenta lo spettacolo “The 70’s Legacy” che ripercorre il periodo musicale degli anni 70 della band Deep Purple, mentre il secondo propone una rivisitazione del repertorio blues partendo da brani tradizionali fino alla scena rock blues inglese degli anni 70’.
